Warner Bros. Buys MIdway Games

Well, most of it anyway.
Warner picked up most of Midway's assets including the Mortal Kombat franchise, Spy Hunter and Joust for the tidy sum of $33 million.
I'm not sure what will come of this but I predict three things might happen. Some of Midway's games will be getting comics, There will be a new Mortal Kombat vs. DC, and we might see some movies based on Spy Hunter or Mortal Kombat again.

Get Your Capcom On, On the PSN That Is
The section on the PSN for old games has been empty for along time. Granted now we have the huge titles of Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy VII, but as great as they are they're still two games. Well Capcom sees an opportunity to sell more of their games.
Tomorrow they'll make Capcom Classic Collection: Remixed available for download. It brings 20 old school Capcom titles to the table. And over the year nine more Capcom games from the PSP and PS1 library will become available

Your iPhone Can Get It's PSO Nerd On

Do you have an iPhone that's naked? Do you like letting the world know you're an old school gamer? Well don't fret for now you can protect your phones in "style".
Esty is offering this soft case modeled after the original PlayStation for $20 with a controller for an additional $7. While I'm not inclined to spend thirty dollars on an iPhone case, if I were it would probably be this.
Asteroids Is Getting A Movie

Yes that Asteroids. The black and white game with simple vector sprites rom 1979.
Someone thought it would make a good movie for contemporary audiences. In fact alot of people did as it just went through a four studio bidding war. Well Universal studios won out and are now tasked with making the simple game into some kind of space epic.
I seriously love Asteroids as a game. But as a movie it dosen't offer much in terms of originality. Is it seriously going to be one man in a ship blasting Asteroids and other ships in space? I've seen that so many times now I'm totally numb to it.
